packing

despite the excitement of our new downtown office, we are now officially urban, it has been a week full of nostalgia as we have packed up and moved away from our 20 year reign at this location.

sadly it is not the right fit for us anymore. the space is really just too big for us now that we have our construction office up and building. even though it is time for the change, it has been hard to leave. i really love this building.

i have discovered that there is some magical curse on packing. no matter how much i feel like i box up, there is always more to be done. so many pictures! boss has had an amazing career and will continue to, i am glad he documented and framed so many neat projects and awards. i have loved tearing down pictures and seeing the faded paint. another reminder that this place has been used and loved.

i love the sounds of tape skidding across a box. so much independence comes from that insignificant sound. packing.

i have learned the freedom and importance of boxing up memories this week, and just like the office there is always more to do. but i have loved organizing and safely packing away memories that were good, hard and just there--but not relevant to my life anymore.

just like the office i put off packing memories and people. it is tough for me to let go of familiar things even if when they no longer fit my needs.

moving, boxing, changing is hard. but i love packing.

Ooo. Packing is exciting, but I can't believe you're moving after 20 years. Bittersweet.

And yeah, where did you move downtown?
